Babur the jewel in South East London’s culinary crown, is rolling out the red carpet to host a regally fun-filled weekend of celebratory festivities to honour the Coronation of King Charles III. Taking place in their majestic Rajasthani marquee, guests can expect delicious feasting menus, special botanical cocktails, reflecting Charles’ love for gardening, and live streaming of the historic occasion.

On Saturday 6th May, Babur is hosting an afternoon tea fit for a king. Evoking the rich traditions of Indian dining culture with bold innovative twists on traditional high tea, guests will tuck into an array of sweet and savoury delights including bread pakora with banana and tamarind, tandoori chicken and vegetable finger sandwiches, barley halwa cake, garam masala sultana scones with clotted cream, Victorian sponge cake, and summer berry clotted cream tart, served alongside a selection of teas including Chai and Darjeeling.

Served from 12 pm – 4:30 pm, the afternoon tea costs £33 per person with a glass of Prosecco or £30 with a mocktail.

For those who want to watch Charles III officially become crowned King of England at Westminster Abbey, Babur will be airing the procession live on a wide-screen projector, so you won’t miss a moment of history in the making.

Toast to the occasion with the “King’s Cup,” an impressive tipple made with Empress Blue pea shoot gin, homemade white spice extract, elderflower liqueur, lavender bitters and fresh lemon juice charged with tonic, served in a gin goblet.

On Sunday, gather your friends, family, and neighbours for The Big Lunch at Babur. The team are putting on a suitably decadent buffet on the marquee, with a variety of inventive Indian dishes with a British twist. Priced at £25 per person, guests will enjoy the likes of chicken tikka sausage rolls, slow-cooked vegetarian biryani, Raj-style chicken curry, South Indian lamb stew, Indian-spiced baked fish, and more.
