May 2023 – This year, the standout Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Asia invite guests to get closer than ever to the region’s wondrous natural landscapes and local biodiversity with a collection of experiences that shine a spotlight on the natural world.

From close encounters with wildlife in the Maldives to birdwatching in Hangzhou, the experiences are designed to encourage guests to rediscover their favourite destinations in a new light, whilst making life-long memories with family and friends.

Creatures up Close

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is home to the world’s largest-known manta ray population. Led by The Manta Trust team, and their deep research on ‘Manta Hot Dates’, guests can expect to see one of the greatest underwater shows on Earth between May and November, as the plankton-rich currents attract reef manta rays to the local waters. The gentle giants arrive in their hundreds for graceful feeding frenzies. In 2022, an estimated 6,083 manta ray sightings were recorded in the waters around the Resort, and guests witnessed cyclone feeding for the first time, within a stone’s throw of the Arrival Jetty.

In the lush forests of Langkawi, guests can set sail to Kilim Karst Geoforest Park with the Naturalists at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi. Setting off from the Resort’s own beach, guests will take in dramatic sea stacks and enter the park’s maze of 550-million-year-old cliffs and tangled mangroves. As the boat delves deeper into the forest, Naturalists will identify sleeping vipers, eagles, otters and monkeys on the journey through the weaving waterways.

Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, China, sits at the periphery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of West Lake. Guests can board a traditional wooden rowing boat for a serene journey through the lake’s western reaches and hidden corners. The Hotel’s Eco Birdwatching programme will inspire budding and experienced ornithologists, taking guests from the gardens and out onto the lake, to spot an array of colourful species, including the white wagtail and spangled drongo.

At one with nature

High-end glamping at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Thailand promises guests off-the-grid experiences that bring them deeper into the lush bamboo jungle. Perfect for families, the two-bedroom Explorer’s Lodge can be transformed into a private hideout, with its own infinity pool overlooking the jungle, whilst a stay in a Deluxe Tent, with its own outdoor hot tubs, will offer privacy for couples seeking secluded adventures. A dedicated Camp Guide will create a personalised itinerary, from breakfast at Camp Peak after waking up to birdsong, to watching rescued elephants bathe at the Resort’s pond, to a star-lit dinner by the riverside.

In Hoi An, Vietnam, guests can align themselves with the harmonic frequency of the Earth itself. At Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai (Hoi An), a crystal singing bowl practitioner will play healing vibrations and synchronise guests’ internal rhythm to the Earth’s song. The ritual can be experienced alone or as a couple, inspiring a deeper connection to the Earth and each other, starting with the warm cleansing smoke of sustainable Hoi An agarwood and the Heart of the Earth sound and breath ritual. The journey continues with a Vietnamese scrub and bath, and deep pressure massage that incorporates gem-tipped tuning forks and a fully immersive sound bath, radiating profound and positive natural energy.
