BOCCONCINO SOHO: NOW OPEN
Sleek marble counters topped with indulgent cicchetti plates; expert pizzaiolos crafting freshly made pizza dough in front of guests; a rotating line-up of DJs spinning upbeat house hits; a sexy subterranean bar on the way – welcome to Bocconcino Soho!
The second location of the renowned Mayfair Italian restaurant – winner of the Best Luxury Restaurant at the British Restaurant Awards 2023 – has opened on 59 Great Marlborough Street. And, with the arrival next month of a new cocktail bar, Sotto, expect a lively dining destination full of Italian soul.
Whilst diners can expect the same high standards and authentic cuisine as in Mayfair, the Soho restaurant showcases the skill and theatre of Italian dining with a menu shining the spotlight on standout cicchetti dishes. Stunning marble counter seating overlooks the bar and pizzaiolos in the open-plan kitchen using traditional Roman dough to prepare signature wood-fired pizzas.
Under the direction of Head Chef Simone Serafini (previously of Cecconi’s and private members’ club 5 Hertford Street), Bocconcino Soho’s menu draws on a myriad of Italian regions, from Tuscany to Rome, Sicily to Florence. Showstopping cicchetti dishes (Venetian small plates designed for sharing) are at the heart of the menu, including mini versions of Bocconcino’s popular handmade pasta and antipasti. Opt for lightly spiced Tartare di Tonne (tuna tartare), Parmigiana de Melanzane (aubergine parmigiana), Raviolo di Gamberi e Branzino Con Tartufo Nero (ravioli with prawns, seafood & black truffle) and more.
The a la carte menu features signature wood-fired pizzas, handmade pasta, fresh seafood and hearty meat dishes including the iconic Tagliatelle with Black Truffle or the spicy Pizza Diavola. In the coming months, Simone will launch an exclusive tasting menu further showcasing the diverse flavours of Italy.
The food is complemented by an extensive selection of cocktails created by head bartender Simone De Rosa with classic and contemporary creations such as the Tuscan Herb Walk (Tanqueray gin infused with herbs, Cointreau, rosé wine reduction and grapefruit juice) and the Amalfi Twilight (Ketel One Vodka, Aperol, strawberry and Amalfi lemon cordial, soda and prosecco garnished with basil and tomato). There is also a standout wine list featuring an expansive selection of regional Italian varietals chosen by Head Sommelier Ennio Pucciarelli alongside well-known grapes from across the globe.
The restaurant welcomes diners seven days a week for lunch and dinner with a rotating line-up of resident DJs to entertain Soho’s denizens until late, from Thursday – Saturday. There will also be a bottomless brunch running on Saturdays and Sundays with free-flowing bubbles and unlimited signature pizzas.
The interiors pay homage to Bocconcino’s original Forte dei Marmi roots and are a modern interpretation of a traditional trattoria. Soft, warm lighting, earthy tones, and luxurious marble accents are ideally suited to intimate dinners à deux, alongside cosy banquettes and larger tables ideal for group celebrations.
October will see the opening of a chic underground speakeasy bar, Sotto, for a vibrant drinks destination beneath the bustling streets of Soho, offering a touch of glamour and luxury and serving signature cocktails.
