October is Breast Cancer Awareness month which, each autumn, presents an opportunity to highlight awareness for this disease which will affect up to 1 in 7 women during their lifetime.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK (accounting for 15% of new cancer diagnoses per annum) In young women aged 35 – 49 years, it is the most common cause of death. (affects 1 in 7 women who were born during and since 1960)
This cause came close to our hearts recently when our much-valued spa receptionist and
long-serving employee, Ann, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. A challenging
time when the NHS was stretched to the limit with Covid, yet she thankfully underwent
extensive treatment and is now back at work in the spa.
As with Ann’s journey, the encouraging news is that chances of surviving are on the upward
trend in part thanks to advances in cancer research, and so Verbena Spa is offering an
