From the traditional terroirs of France to the sunkissed vineyards of California, have your boarding passes ready to see, swirl, sniff, sip, and savour your way from an old-world Atlantic pirate port to Wine Country panoramas on the Pacific coast with Humble Grape’s latest World of Wine Series.

In their bid to filter out every last drop of pretension from old-school wine education and open up the world of wine to whoever fancies the journey, the neighbourhood wine whizzes famously dedicate each month of the year to a different wine-producing region from around the globe. From tasting flights and chef’s specials to exploratory wine producer evenings, the series encourages the vinquisitive to paddle in the shallows or dive as deep into each region as you desire.

Humble Grape’s August and September World of Wine itineraries have just been released with a truly corking line-up involving the group’s exclusively imported roster of extra special sips from some of the world’s best independent and 100% sustainable suppliers.

August – say bonjour to Bordeaux

The area in southwest France is considered one of the greatest wine-producing regions in the world,

Bordeaux started as a pirate outpost in an Atlantic swamp. From that humble beginning, it became the most influential in the French wine regions.

Bordeaux Tasting Experience – Tuesday 29th August, Humble Grape Battersea

Embark on an exhilarating two-hour guided tasting adventure beginning at 6.30 pm at Humble Grape Battersea. Explorers will take an epic journey through eight wines, unravelling the secrets of Bordeaux’s winemaking techniques and unlocking the keys to their unique character and unparalleled quality. The journey will take in Bordeaux’s vibrant whites and renowned reds including the Château Puy Mouton ‘Allegorie’ Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2016, of which only 250 cases were made!

Chef’s specials

Those looking to experience a fully immersive taste of the region where wine reigns supreme can visit their local Humble Grape at any time throughout August to enjoy Bordeaux-inspired chef’s specials, each paired with its perfect partner in wine.  The Cep risotto small plate utilises the seasonal mushroom popular in the region that is formidable alongside a glass of the green and flinty Château Landonnet Bordeaux Blanc AOC 2021.

Moving to mains, Entrecôte à la Bordelaise drenches succulent steak with a red wine sauce brimming with shallots and rich bone marrow. An ideal partner for the distinctive minerality of the Château Arzac Graves AOC 2015. Délicieux!

September – California dreaming

From old world to new. September’s region of choice crosses the pond to the golden state of California, synonymous with vinous excellence where the grapes are as happy as a clam at high tide! Baja tacos and a tri-tip flatbread will be on the menu for the California chef specials.

California Tasting Experience – Tuesday 26th September, Humble Grape Liverpool Street

This month’s two-hour tasting experience kicking off at 6.30 pm will see Humble Grape Liverpool Street’s resident experts decant their next-level knowledge as they regale you with fascinating tales about the history, the land, and the winemakers that make these wines truly special. Meet the California Winemaker Supper Club – Thursday 28th September, Humble Grape Fleet Street

Want to delve even deeper into the area that’s known as Wine Country for damn good reason? A special Supper Club will get you under the grape skins of winemaking legend Rombauer. Kevin Travis will delight guests with an audacious tale that begins in 1980 when  Koerner and Joan Rombauer threw caution to the wind and left behind their conventional careers to pursue the vine-covered dream, through to how they came to develop THAT bestselling Chardonnay. Five specially-selected Rombauer wines will be accompanied by a delicious dish expertly paired by Humble Grape’s executive chef including bream ceviche, confit duck wings and pulled lamb taco.
