Thursday 9th February marks National Pizza Day, the yearly celebration of the Italian stalwart dish, and what better to follow with than with Belgium’s beer of choice, Duvel?

With a flavour profile especially brewed to be enjoyed with food, a strong head and citrusy bitterness are complemented by its silky-smooth taste. Duvel Original is the perfect pairing to your slice, whatever your topping, with the hops helping to highlight the bready freshness.  The Belgian speciality beer is renowned for matching well to complex flavours ranging from pork and veal, lobster and chicory and is especially a natural partner for a variety of cheeses. This is due to the aromatic hops and zesty aromatics used in the beer’s unique fermentation process.

If going rogue and choosing to celebrate the honourary day, with pizza’s latest trend, a dessert pizza, indulge in Cherry Chouffe. The intensely fruity and beautifully balanced beer evokes notes of berry, almond, spices and sweet port, cutting beautifully through the Nutella, caramel and white chocolate whilst enhancing nutty notes
