With longer, lighter evenings finally here, The Orchid Lounge at Pan Pacific London announces the arrival of its stunning new Floral Fantasy kopi tiam afternoon tea experience.
Expect exquisite patisserie, steamed buns, and dumplings alongside other Southeast Asian flavours that pay homage to the hotel’s Singaporean roots.
Kopi tiam, translating to ‘coffee shop’, is Singapore’s take on a quintessentially British afternoon tea. The Orchid Lounge’s new Floral Fantasy collection is inspired by the world-renowned ‘Gardens by the Bay’. Indulge in four decadent yet delicate patisserie, each inspired by a different element of the iconic ‘Floral Fantasy’ installation in Singapore: Dance, Float, Waltz, and Drift.
Available now until July, Dance is a beautiful creation of raspberry compote with pistachio mousseline in a light choux bun; whilst Float is a delicate lavender ganache and lemon confit macaroon; Waltz sees pineapple jelly married with orange blossom honey mousse and a vanilla madeleine; and Drift is a tempting combination of Amaretto and Kahlua mascarpone with a coffee sponge and 67% chocolate crémeux.
In keeping with the Singaporean ethos, traditional scones have been replaced with matcha scones, alongside steamed pandan mantou (fluffy steamed buns), both accompanied by kaya jam – a signature Southeast Asian coconut spread. Savoury serves include traditional deep-fried milk and a siu mai basket of prawn, spinach and beef dumplings.
The Floral Fantasy Afternoon Tea is served alongside your choice of tea from The Rare Tea Company, with The Orchid Lounge’s Bespoke Blend – a perfect mix of Loose Leaf Indian & Malawian Black Tea, Chinese Oolong Tea and Indian Rose Petals – a must-try. For a touch of indulgence, add a glass of crisp champagne or English sparkling wine.
For specific dietary requirements or allergies, a ‘free from’ version of the Floral Fantasy Afternoon Tea is available, as well as the choice to opt for traditional sandwiches instead of the kopi tiam savoury specials.
The Floral Fantasy Afternoon Tea at The Orchid Lounge is available from 12PM – 4.30PM Thursday – Monday, priced at £68pp on weekdays, and £72pp on Saturdays and Sundays.
