The Stafford London, renowned for its timeless elegance and exceptional hospitality, will launch a sophisticated new afternoon tea on 31 July. The afternoon tea will be served from a brand-new bespoke cake trolley for an added sense of theatre and occasion, and to allow guests choice with their preferred cakes and pastries. The new recipes have been created collaboratively by Magdalena Velczenbach, The Stafford’s Head Pastry Chef, and Lisa Goodwin-Allen who oversees the menu direction at The Stafford as well as being Executive Chef of Michelin-starred Northcote in Lancashire.

To start, sandwiches and scones will be served on a traditional cake stand, alongside coffee or a selection of fine teas from Camelia’s Tea House. Delicate finger sandwiches will include H. Forman & Son smoked salmon with horseradish crème fraîche on granary bread and Honey roasted ham and mustard mayonnaise on onion bread, alongside a Truffle egg bun. Plain and fruit scones will be served with whipped clotted cream and strawberry jam, alongside a savoury delight: Westcombe Cheddar scone with soft cheese and chives.

The new cake trolley will be presented tableside, with each guest able to select five seasonal cakes or pastries from the display. These may include Raspberry, apple, and elderflower macaroon; Coffee choux bun; Vanilla and raspberry white mouse; Lemon and basil tart; and Cherry and coconut mousse. Guests can also sample a slice of the showstopping signature Earl Grey and honey layer cake.
