Stari Grad with a Cave Twist

Venture into the 2,400-year-old UNESCO town of Stari Grad! You will be picked up at Maslina Resort and taken into the heart of Stari Grad for a tailored-to-you walking tour. Visit Tvrdalj, a well-preserved 16th-century Renaissance building and the former summer residence of Croatian poet Petar Hektorović. Roam the exhibitions at the Stari Grad Museum, where you can learn about the island’s cultural heritage, plus the Dominican monastery of St. Peter Martyr, first established in 1482. The town’s colourful facades, polished cobblestone streets, vibrant art galleries, and fishing boats are all along the way.

The walking tour takes approximately one hour.

Your private driver will then continue to Humac near Jelsa, where you will embark on a guided tour around this abandoned village with roots dating back to the 13th century. This wonderful example of rural workers’ architecture is tucked into an elongated ridge in the middle of the island, featuring 140 small houses made entirely of stone. You will visit the beautifully restored parish Church of St John and Paul, the distillery of essential island oils located at the edge of the village, and venture 30 minutes on foot to Grapčeva cave. With its spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, Grapčeva cave was home to a previously unknown prehistoric cultural group on the east coast of the Adriatic – the Late Neolithic Hvar-Lisičići culture, dating between 3,500 and 2,500 BCE.
