THE GROUP’S THIRD LONDON OUTPOST
London, 28 July 2022: Din Tai Fung, the highly coveted and Michelin Guide recognised Taiwanese dumpling hotspot, is set to launch its much anticipated third London site at Centre Point, the West End’s most recognisable landmark.
Opening on 22 September, Din Tai Fung Centre Point will serve their iconic Xiao Long Bao — steaming hot soup dumplings – which has rightly earned them a ‘cult-like following the world over, popular with celebrities and food-lovers alike.
Din Tai Fung Centre Point will serve the same menu as its sister sites in flagship Covent Garden and Selfridges but will have its own personality reflected in the design; the 13,500sq ft space which seats 218 will offer a chic dining experience with floor-to-ceiling double-height windows on both sides. Also unique to this site will be a large separate bar area, the go-to place for post-work cocktails and evening drinks, serving the brand’s signature cocktails Din, Tai and Fung, alongside well-loved classics.
In addition to various iterations of their signature Xiao Long Bao, customers can also enjoy a varied menu of handmade dumplings and delicious rice and noodle dishes. Also popular are treats such as the Salted Egg Yolk Custard Lava Buns, which offer a sweet twist on the classic Din Tai Fung’s steamed buns. Excitingly, diners will have dishes delivered to them by robots, providing a unique dining experience.
At the heart of Din Tai Fung is the culinary craftsmanship that goes into the art of making Xiao Long Bao. Each Xiao Long Bao undergoes 40 minutes of hand preparation of rolling, filling and folding to create 18 precise folds, with a dedicated Dian Xin dim sum chef at each phase to ensure the highest standards. To celebrate this artistry and skill, Din Tai Fung Centre Point will have an open kitchen at the centre of the restaurant.
Commenting on Din Tai Fung Centre Point, XueFeng Bai, UK Director has said; ‘We are honoured to be opening our third site here in London, a reflection of the ongoing loyalty of our customers. Having come from humble beginnings, our cooking remains true to that with unchanged recipes for over half a century. We look forward to more people discovering our brand and are excited to grow the Din Tai Fung family.’
This latest expansion within an iconic setting marks a pivotal moment for the brand which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has continued to serve the same authentic Taiwanese cuisine for over 60 years. Centre Point, due to celebrate its 60th anniversary next year, was one of London’s first skyscrapers, and a design classic that stands as a focal point for the creative and cultural heartbeat of the ever-changing city.
Founded over 60 years ago, with more than 100 million Xiao Long Bao served globally each year, Din Tai Fung’s origins date back to humble beginnings, before attaining international acclaim. After years of devotion to the craft, Din Tai Fung has become a leader within international culinary circles, having gracefully made its entrance onto the European stage in 2018. Opening its flagship restaurant in the UK in Covent Garden, followed by the recent opening of its second restaurant in Selfridges London earlier this year, the opening of Din Tai Fung Centre Point goes to demonstrate the brand’s ongoing popularity and will cement its position as a true cult favourite.
